The Story Thus Far - Sankarea Episode 4

The Story Thus Far - Sankarea Episode 4

Sankarea is interesting in that it takes a bit of an imagination stretch in order to really take it all in.

In that I mean if anything, the anime would end in like, 48 hours after Rea's body starts to bloat up and look...well...gross. The fourth episode starts out with Danichiro having a hallucination that was actually really entertaining to watch as his psychosis caves in around him as Rea pushes him away. Her tone is also really, really nice, how she's calm about it despite the fact that her intestines are currently hanging around her knees.

Then he wakes up in a pool of his daughter's pictures.

Oh Japan.

I'm kind of curious where this anime is planning to go, I mean, zombies don't age, they decompose, and if decomposition becomes a factor then you have to take everything that goes with it, the smell, the sight, decomposition is a nasty process.

When Rea's mother finds out that she has left the house to go be dead with Chihiro, she goes to confront Danichiro, who is still naked in the tub. It's established that Danichiro isn't tearing the dog shit out of that ass, and which is confusing in of itself. But he did kids, apparently, so whatever I guess. Regardless, that'll likely be an important thing in their development as characters, so it's important to note, at the least.

Danichiro pledges to punish Chihiro, likely by castration as he had said he was going to before, but that'll come later. For now, Rea sews up her wounds, and it's revealed she can't feel pain. This brings an interesting question, if Rea and Chihiro were to...do the nasty...would she feel anything? No right? Again, bit of an imagination stretch is required.

Not a whole lot of ground is actually covered in this episode, it's revealed that Rea is in fact, a corpse, and begins to set in with rigamortis, and Wanko gets pissed off about Chihiro ditching her in the tunnel. It's also hinted at that maybe being a zombie does go hand in hand with eating people, but I'm sure it's not that simple, as Rea begins to have an urge to 'do something' to Chihiro.

This is honestly more of a filler episode, but I guess it's a necessary evil.

Hopefully next week will be better.

The Episode in Pictures

Ow.
Something about this scene just gave me chills. It's a nice visual and a wakeup for Danichiro that his daughter is outside his hands.
Fucking pervert.
Her breasts move independantly of each other! I don't understand why Danichiro isn't fucking the dog shit outta dat ass.
Nice underboob.
...Ow.
It's little scenes like these that define a character. They add charm and grace, I just wish they'd stop relying on cheap erotic shots to add fanservice. This kind of fanservice is plenty!
Wanko is probably my favorite character, I really hope they develop the shit out of her. I always have a thing for the characters you know aren't going to end up with the protagonist, despite how much you want them to.
This is supposed to look like she's resisting eating him, but we all know she's just horny.
Wow really? This scene was unnecessary. Hot, but unnecessary. It takes away from the character for cheap visuals. Bleh.
The grandpa looks like a pet monkey, I hope he has a history to him too that they'll explore.
Again, cheap fanservice. God dammit.
The use of color and balance in the anime, OP, and ED is really important because it helps it stand out. This is a great visual, and really helps the ED stand alone as one of the better ED of the season.
I gotta admit, if all zombies looked like that I'd probably be a necrophiliac too.
